Red Thread

While planning this route along the planet, I tried to open my heart, listen to my gut feeling and kind of suppress the “to much.. impossible.. etc.” signals from my brain. Finally I took a box of push pins & red thread and gradually pinned this thing on my 3m² world map, so I can always take a look at it when I wake up in the morning.

The result is my personal dream route I had more or less in mind for years, which covers all the places, countries and landscapes I’m dreaming about and looking forward to visit since a long time. Some of the highlights for sure are the Pamir Highway in Tajikistan / Kyrgyzstan or the Carretera Austral in Chile, but there are also a lot of others and of course many roads I’ve never read or heard about yet.

Nevertheless it’s just a vague plan, a plan which may and should change. I love the spontaneous decisions while traveling and all the unexpected new directions they will bring. For me, thats exactly what traveling is all about, always exploring and learning new things. Another Point is, that we never know what the future will bring, if I’m able to keep my motivation and fire for this project or at worst, not being able to continue because of potential health problems. So I’m very excited and looking forward what the next years will bring.

You will also find this route and the actual route on this page here![/penci_text_block]

Sieht gut aus.
Wir wollen in einem Jahr für ein Jahr in der Südsee leben; verstehe dass Du da nicht vorbei kommst; die Inseln sind schlicht zu klein…

Klingt ebenfalls sehr spannend! Welche Inseln habt ihr vor zu bereisen?

A wall map, with a red thread, sounds like a great idea! I’ve already done a lot of planning, for my own trip (leave at the beginning of 2021), via Ride with GPS. I might do a ‘red thread’ myself, as a hard copy visualisation.
